What are UGC deliverables? Meaning and examples
Deliverables: Deliverables are the specific items a UGC creator agrees to hand over or publish in a deal, such as edited videos, hook variations, raw footage, posts and deadlines.
Deliverables are the exact things you agree to hand over in a UGC deal. “Three videos” is not a deliverables list. “Three vertical videos of 20 to 30 seconds, three hooks each, with captions, plus raw files, delivered by the 15th” is. The clearer the list, the fewer surprises at payment.
How it works
A deliverables list usually names:
- Videos. How many, how long, which aspect ratio, with or without captions and music.
- Variations. Extra hooks or alternate endings for the same video. Brands use these to test ads.
- Raw footage. Unedited clips and B-roll, if the brand wants to cut its own versions.
- Posts. For Canvas UGC or ambassador account deals, how many posts per day or week, on which accounts and platforms.
- Deadlines. Draft date, feedback window, final delivery.
- Revisions. How many rounds are included before extra changes cost more.
Usage rights sit next to deliverables, not inside them. Deliverables say what you make. Usage says what the brand can do with it.
Example
Two app deals, with example terms:
Canvas deal, one month:
- 30 posts on the brand’s TikTok, one a day
- Each post: reaction clip, app demo, on-screen hook, caption
- A weekly report of views per post
- One revision round on the first week’s posts
Traditional deal:
- 4 edited videos, 3 hooks each
- Raw footage included
- Delivered within 10 days of the brief
Why it matters for UGC creators
- Scope creep starts with vague lists. “A few videos” grows. Numbers don’t.
- Each line has a cost. Raw footage and extra hooks take time and give the brand more to work with. Price them as line items next to your per-video rate.
- It decides when you get paid. Many deals pay on delivery or approval, so define what “delivered” means.
- It protects the next deal. A clear list from last month makes the renewal easy to quote.
Check the creative brief against your deliverables before you sign. If they disagree, fix it in writing first.
Related terms
- Creative brief: A creative brief is the document a brand gives a UGC creator setting out the video's goal, audience, key message, required and banned claims, format and deadlines.
- Raw footage: Raw footage is the unedited video a creator films for a project, such as full takes, reaction shots and screen recordings, delivered before cuts, captions or music are added.
- Usage rights: Usage rights are the permissions a creator grants a brand to use their videos, defining where the content can appear, whether it can run as paid ads, and for how long.
- Per-video rate: A per-video rate is a flat fee a brand pays a creator for each delivered and accepted UGC video, regardless of how many views it later gets.
