What is an ambassador account in UGC? Explained

Ambassador account: An ambassador account is a social media account a creator runs and posts on to promote a single brand or app, usually created fresh for that brand and posted to on a set schedule.

An ambassador account is a social account you run to post about one brand. It is usually new, made just for that brand or app, and you post on it on a fixed schedule. It’s the account at the center of most Canvas UGC deals.

How it works

The setup varies by brand, but the pattern is similar:

  1. A new account is created for the campaign, either by the brand or by you at their request.
  2. You post short videos about the product on a schedule, often several times a day.
  3. The brand pays you a retainer, a CPM, or both.
  4. Depending on the deal, the brand owns the account or takes it over when you stop.

Consumer apps have run this with many creators at once, each posting on their own fresh account. One public write-up describes creators posting 15 times a week, three times a day on weekdays, for a monthly fee (Growth Kit Handbook).

Example

A study app asks you to start a TikTok account themed around exam season. You post the same kind of video every day: a short reaction, a screen recording of the app, and a new hook. After a month the brand reviews the account’s views and decides whether to renew.

Who owns the account

Get this in writing before you start:

  • Who holds the login and the email on the account.
  • Whether you hand it over when the deal ends.
  • Whether you can show it in your portfolio.
  • What happens to the followers and videos.

Why it matters for UGC creators

  • Each account is a daily job. Running two or three means two or three posting schedules.
  • No following needed. The account starts at zero, so new creators can take these deals.
  • Platform rules apply. Running several accounts has limits on each platform. Check the platform’s terms and the brand’s disclosure approach. The FTC influencer guidance is a useful starting point in the US.
