What is a UGC rate card? What to include
Rate card: A rate card is a one-page price list a UGC creator sends to brands, showing base rates per video or package plus add-ons like usage rights, extra hooks and exclusivity.
A rate card is a one-page price list you send to brands. It shows what you charge for a video, a package or a monthly deal, and what each add-on costs. It saves back-and-forth: the brand sees your prices before the first call, and you stop quoting from scratch every time.
What to include
- Base rates. Your per-video rate, plus package prices if you sell videos in sets.
- Ongoing work. A monthly retainer price, or a CPM for posting on brand accounts.
- Hook variations. The same video with different hooks for testing.
- Usage rights. Paid ad usage, priced by term.
- Exclusivity. Priced by category and duration.
- Raw footage and rush delivery.
- What’s included. Video length, revision rounds and turnaround time.
Example
A simple layout. These are example numbers, not market rates:
- 1 video, up to 30 seconds, 1 revision: $150
- 3-video package: $400
- Extra hook variation: $30 per video
- Paid usage, 3 months: +$100 per video
- Raw footage: +$50 per video
- Daily posting on a brand account: from $600 a month
Each line answers a question a brand would otherwise email you about.
How brands read it
Brands often compare several creators at once. Clear line items make you easy to say yes to. Two habits help:
- Price usage separately. It shows what each part costs, and stops ad rights from disappearing inside a low base rate.
- Say “starting at”. Big scopes, long terms or wide exclusivity get a custom quote.
Why it matters for UGC creators
A rate card anchors the negotiation on your numbers instead of the brand’s budget. Update it when your work or results change, and link it from your UGC portfolio.
Post-based deals add up differently from one-off videos. Before you set a monthly price, work out the hours: filming, editing and posting every day for one client is a real share of your week.
