What is posting cadence? How often UGC creators post
Posting cadence: Posting cadence is how often and when an account publishes, such as two posts a day at set times, often agreed in a UGC deal and kept steady for weeks.
Posting cadence is how often and when you post on an account: once a day at noon, three times a week, twice a day at 11:00 and 19:00. In UGC deals the cadence is often written into the contract, especially on retainers and Canvas UGC accounts. Once it’s agreed, the job is keeping it steady.
How it works
Cadence has two parts:
- Frequency. Posts per day or week, per account and per platform.
- Timing. The time slots you post in, usually spread through the day rather than all at once.
There’s no official number that fits every account. Buffer analyzed 11.4 million TikTok posts from over 150,000 accounts. Compared with posting once a week, accounts posting 2 to 5 times a week got up to 17% more views per post, and accounts posting 11 or more times got up to 34% more. Median views per post stayed roughly flat. The gain came mostly from a higher chance of a breakout post (Buffer, October 2025).
Example
A retainer says “two posts a day, every day, on TikTok and Instagram Reels.” That’s four posts a day across two platforms, or about 120 a month for one client. You pick fixed slots in the audience’s time zone and keep them for a month before changing anything. Example terms, not a market standard.
Choosing your cadence
- Start from the brief. If the client sets a number, that’s your floor.
- Keep what holds up. If views per post drop as you add posts, the extra volume isn’t paying off.
- Keep posts distinct. More posts from the same clips need more variation. See content repurposing.
- Review weekly. Views per post and total views, per account.
Why it matters for UGC creators
- On CPM deals, more posts mean more chances at a big video. That fits Buffer’s finding. See UGC CPM.
- Cadence sets your workload. Two posts a day on two platforms for three clients is twelve posts a day. That only works with batching.
- Missed slots cost trust. A retainer that pays for daily posts expects daily posts.
For a full routine, read how to post 3 times a day as a UGC creator. UGCPoster can post several times a day per project, either as drafts you approve or straight to the feed on a schedule.
