Discovery Hooks for TikTok & UGC: 30+ Examples
A discovery hook tells a tiny story: you struggled with something for a long time, then you found the fix. A second version hints at something only insiders know. It works best when the struggle is long and specific ("3 years of", "every single Sunday"), and it fits relief, disbelief or an annoyed "why didn't I know this sooner" reaction.

How to write discovery hooks
Put a number on the struggle
"I struggled with budgeting" is flat. "3 years of budgeting in a notebook" makes the find feel earned. Years, attempts and counts all work.
Say you found it, not what it is
The hook ends at the moment of finding. The demo reveals the thing. "and I just found this" keeps the gap open, while naming the feature closes it.
Use the insider angle on purpose
"only people who've been on 30 first dates will get this" filters the audience. The people it fits stop scrolling, and the rest were never going to download.
Let your face carry the regret
This format reads best with a face that says "I can't believe I wasted that long": annoyed relief, a slow head shake, or a laugh at yourself.
